Hoogsensitief & trauma
Wat mij in de 20 jaar als bedrijfsarts het meeste heeft geraakt is dat mensen met een (jeugd) trauma niet de hulp en begeleiding krijgen die ze nodig hebben. Maar hoe ze dapper het trauma wegstoppen en proberen om er het beste van te maken, wat heel veel energie kost. Vaak weten ze zelf niet eens dat ze een trauma hebben. Als ze al hulp zoeken krijgen ze andere diagnoses en behandelingen daar op gericht die wel een beetje effect hebben maar de oorzaak van de klachten wordt niet aangepakt.
Beroepskeuze artsen
Als kind wist ik al dat ik dokter wou worden. Ik wist toen alleen nog niet hoeveel verschillende soorten dokter er bestonden. Ik kwam wel eens bij de huisarts en de schoolarts. En verder de artsen zoals op tv, altijd druk in een witte jas en perfecte make up.
Tijdens mijn studie kwam ik er achter dat er veel verschillende soorten artsen bestonden, alle specialisaties, zowel in als buiten het ziekenhuis. Tegenwoordig komen de superspecialisaties ook op. Kortom, er is heel veel keus.
Maar welke past het beste bij jou? Ik heb tijdens mijn co-schappen gekozen voor bedrijfsarts omdat ik toevallig een co-schap liep bij een arbodienst en het een leuk vak vond. Maar wat als ik nooit bij een arbodienst terecht was gekomen maar bij het UWV? Of bij een GGD? Was dat het dan geworden? Ik zal het nooit weten.
Expertise
Na mijn universitaire opleiding heb ik 20 jaar gewerkt als bedrijfsarts. In die jaren heb ik veel verschillende bedrijven begeleid, van sociale werkplaatsen en de gemeentereiniging tot een universitair ziekenhuis. Daardoor heb ik een brede ervaring in het begeleiden van allerlei mensen.
Een van mijn favoriete dingen in mijn werk was dat ik altijd een paar uur of een dag mee kon lopen in het bedrijf of instelling om te zien wat mijn klanten als werk doen. Zo heb ik om 2 uur ‘s nachts treinen schoon gemaakt, de binnenkant van een kerncentrale gezien en heb ik als eerste vrouw in Rotterdam achter op een vuilniswagen gehangen.
Na 20 jaar dit werk te hebben gedaan merk ik dat ik de opgedane ervaringen en wijsheid op een andere manier in wil gaan zetten.
Daarom besloot ik in 2020 om een cursus tot coach te gaan volgen.
Deze heb ik met goed resultaat gevolgd bij Adriaan Hoogendijk coaching opleidingen.

Ervaringen
Ik heb tien sessies bij Elisa de Bruin gevolgd, omdat ik hulp nodig had beter te leren functioneren vooral in mijn privéleven en inzicht te krijgen in mijn hang ups.
De intake vond ik verrassend, omdat er naar me geluisterd werd en er kennelijk begrip was. De methode van je tuin inrichten sprak mij zeer aan.
Mijn doel was te leren waarom ik functioneerde zoals ik deed en wat er voor verbeteringen er zouden moeten plaatsvinden om mijn tuin anders in te richten zodat ik me in mijn eigen tuin thuis voelde.
Na 4 sessies hadden we een evaluatie. Ik had mijn huiswerk gedaan en hoewel het me veel moeite kostte want het was erg confronterend, was ik blij dat mijn thuisopdrachten diepgaand besproken werden. Hierdoor groeide het inzicht in mijzelf en mijn functioneren. Gewoonten zijn moeilijk te veranderen maar de eerste stappen zijn gezet. Ik heb meer zelfvertrouwen en in mijn tuin bloeit af en toe iets.
